Airman (ft. 1ho, Chan) — Gloomy Star

The first time I came across the song, I was immediately hook within the first note. The way Airman sings “mello~” just hit different and instantly caught my ears — and the song just gets 100x better from there! ‘Gloomy Star’ has a soft melody accompanied with honey vocals that’s going to ease you in these cold Ber nights. The track definitely has a simple arrangement, but who says simple can’t be amazing? For added coziness: wrap yourself in a warm blanket, maybe get a cup of coffee, and you’re all set!

KARA — Runaway

Though KARA is best known for their dance-pop hits like ‘Step’, ‘Mister’, and ‘Mamma Mia’, the group also has an underrated b-side gem from the ‘Full Bloom’ album, ‘Runaway’. The song sounds a bit stripped, accompanied by classic acoustic guitar and strong drum beats which help highlight the members’ voices. If you want something that helps you get through a rainy day, play this. I’d like to say that the way the song is structured is rather creative; it starts out a bit subdued, then gradually obtains power towards the end. ‘Runaway’ is unpretentious with the right amount of energy — worth your time.

Vincent Blue — It’s Raining

Just like pick #1, ‘It’s Raining’ by BNM artist (who is another young OST master) made me fall in love in a heartbeat (it got stuck in my head for about a month). Compared to the previous two picks, the track is a bit more soothing, its energy rather toned-down. If you want that accompanies you while the rain pours heavily outside, this song is definitely for you. Vincent Blue’s effortless runs and the soft, relaxing guitar is guaranteed to make a rainy month staple. Once the pandemic is over, just imagine skipping in water puddles with your umbrella under the gloomy sky while this song is playing in your earpods.

Evita — All About You

This rainy month track takes a different take compared to our #1 and #2 picks. Evita, one of AOMG’s talented vocal princesses, sings a heartfelt ballad that you could cry, scream, and (over)think to. A song for you lo(ber) [pun intended]? A love confession this winter? You’re heartbroken in these cold months? She’s got you. A solemn piano instrumental with Evita’s soulful vocal power is what your heart needs as the heavy rain hits your roof (and your feels).

McKay — You Will Never Know

Something sultry for the rainy days to come? McKay’s ‘You Will Never Know’ has you. McKay’s soothing voice and the sensual instrumentals will keep you body-rolling even as the cold rain hits. You can check out the song’s English version right here as well, which is equally just as breathtaking.

Dahee (ft. Sole) — LUH!

Love lo-fi hits for the rainy season? ‘LUH!’ by Dahee and Sole is our perfect pick for our R&B lo-fi enthusiasts looking for another playlist addition. The duo’s sparkling vocals shine through the song and the unsophisticated, clean structure are the two elements are what make this pick absolutely attractive to the ears.

Rad Museum — Dancing in The Rain ft. Jusén

If you want feel sad as the rain falls, ‘Dancing in The Rain’ by Rad Museum is going to be a hit. CLUBESKIMO/you.will.knovv artists Rad Museum and Jusén will put you in a rollercoaster ride with this song: sparks of ecstatic highs, and a large wave of sad nostalgia. Rainy seasons are a time to just wallow in the sadness and longing, so go ahead and listen to this masterpiece. The live session is even better!

Oohyo — Youth (DAY and NIGHT)

Oohyo’s ‘YOUTH (DAY)’ definitely encapsulates the feelings of melancholy and emptiness. We often associate the rain with reflection or wallowing in sadness. We think about what we have, what we could lose, and what we want to say to those we love — but a lot of these things are hard to express. Luckily, ‘YOUTH (DAY)’ helps us cope with our overwhelming feelings. The combination between Oohyo’s voice and the soft-pop rock music is truly a match made in heaven. What you need to do now is make yourself a cup of hot chocolate and sit down outside your porch as the rain falls.

Oohyo’s ‘YOUTH (NIGHT’), however, is mixed differently. Its instrumentals are more energetic, made for your #sadnightclubhours, replacing the soft pop-rock elements with something much more techno. Nevertheless, the contrasting songs have their own unique elements, and no matter what you feel in the Ber months, Oohyo has something in store for you.

Fiestar — You’re pitiful

Another entry by an idol group? Hear me out — the list is filled with Korea indie, hiphop, and R&B artists, but who says the realm of Korean pop can’t give us a rainy season hit? ‘You’re Pitiful’ is bold, daring, and strong, but with the right touch of vulnerability and regret — which is oftentimes what the cold, lonely nights make us feel. The song is perfectly constructed and the vocals and rap are spectacular. What more do you need?

Villain — Rainy Night

Villain’s ‘Rainy Night’ is the perfect way to end the rainy month playlist. The song is both a confession of love and a cloud of reminiscence. Though Villain is known as a rapper, his soft singing is something you’d regret not hearing earlier. If you want to smile and cherish both the bad and the good memories you’ve had, ‘Rainy Night’ by Villain will surely help you with that. Hopefully, by the time the song ends, both the gray sky and our minds, would become clearer.

Bonus track: ToppDogg’s ‘Rainy day’

ToppDogg — ‘Rainy Day’.

The talented ToppDogg (now Xeno-T) have their own music contender for our rainy months!
